On May 9th, 2018, our team launched Auto-File 2.0.
These are the events that took place between 4:00 PM May 9th, 2018 and 1:30 AM May 10th, 2018.
4:00 PM: Hubdoc launches Auto-File 2.0.
5:00 PM: The Hubdoc development team is made aware of an unexpected performance issue.
5:00 PM - 12:00 AM: Dave Stibrany, Senior Software Engineer, Fil Zalewski, Director of Software Development, and Justin Palumbo, Software Developer troubleshoot the issue to no avail.
12:01 AM: “Since we don’t know what’s causing the issue, should we rollback the Auto-File 2.0 launch?” – Fil Zalewski.
12:02 AM: “The team has worked really hard to bring this feature to market, and customers are excited to test it out. Let’s continue troubleshooting for a little longer.” – Justin Palumbo or Dave Stibrany (they can’t remember, it was late).
12:03 AM: “You're right, let's do it.” – Fil Zalewski
1:30 AM: The performance issue is resolved.
It’s a simple story, but one that makes Jamie and me, co-founders and co-CEOs of Hubdoc, proud. It’s a perfect example of what being a Hubdog is all about – empathizing with colleagues, putting customers first, and giving a $#*!.
In September 2017, the Hubdoc team packed their bags, jumped into a bus, and spent a weekend at a camp on Canoe Lake in Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada. We spent three days swimming, playing games, connecting, and talking about what it means to be a Hubdog.
The following values are what came out of that weekend. These values are not a representation of who we hope to be – they are a representation of who we are. We are sharing them with you, our customers and partners, so that you can continue to hold us accountable to them.
Start with the customer. We aspire to create amazing customer experiences that people share with their friends. We do this by really listening and then building products and services that solve problems for customers.
Transparency. We believe that people do their best work when they have complete information. Transparency enables teamwork and collaboration. All Hubdogs commit to 100% honesty with our customers and with each other.
Be human. Empathy. Respect. Kindness. Authenticity. Low ego/humility. Really listen. Embrace diversity of opinions. Give back. Do the right thing. Have fun. These are the qualities we strive to live up to every day with each other, with our customers, and with our partners.
Always learning, always curious, always growing. Hubdogs ask lots of questions. We like understanding things at a first principle level. We are all driven by personal growth and getting better each and every day.
Give a $#*!. We care deeply. Results matter. We believe in keeping our promises and delivering on everything we do. Every Hubdog owns a piece of Hubdoc and we all behave like owners do.
